Pros

I like that it's lightweight and simple to use. It's not trying to go overboard with complicated functionality but is plenty robust to provide key insights.
The best part of hotjar is that it's the easiest thing to install.
Hotjar is a new-gen marketing analytics tool. It is an ideal tool to boost your SEO rankings.
Once installed, Hotjar automatically tracks everything with a very minimal code load, meaning that it won't slow down your site.
Hotjar widget gives us an easy way to enable users to provide feedback directly inside our SaaS product, users can do it anonymously or by leaving their email information.

Cons

We've used surveys and they can be a bit clunky at times.
Sometimes exported heat maps can be clunky to view as they are image files that pull the entire length of a mobile-optimized webpage.
Hotjar can not track logged in users.
I would say that when I first used it, it had not captured some user sessions and I wasn't able to get the initial user session recordings.
Some of the interface is a little counter-intuitive for me, but I think that's more me than the software.
Wish pages were automatically tracked instead of the top 20 and then having to enter each page manually.
